Blessed Frederic Ozanam
Founder of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul 

On April 23, 1833,
a small group of young
college students
motivated by a challenge,
began searching for a way to put their faith into action. 
In response they founded the Society of St. Vincent de Paul,
named after the
great apostle of charity. 
They visited people who barely survived in the slums of Paris
and those who
were dying in hospitals.

Today thousands of young people throughout the world
are coming together to share common experiences of service to the needy
